We are pleased to announce the launch of a new research initiative, “Healthy Academy.” The aim of the project is to conduct an in‑depth diagnosis of mental health and its determinants within the academic environment, as well as to develop recommendations for higher education institutions in Poland. The project is implemented with the support of the Behaviour in Crisis Lab research team, in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Student Centre for Support and Adaptation of Jagiellonian University, and the Strategy of the Center for Higher Education Research at Jagiellonian University.

The primary objective of the initiative is a comprehensive assessment of mental health and its underlying conditions in the academic community. Researchers analyze mental health across three complementary dimensions: psychosocial resources, socio‑organizational resources, and systemic (institutional) resources. The findings will serve as the basis for developing recommendations aimed at supporting the well‑being of academic communities in Poland.

The initiative also creates a space for critical reflection on stereotypes surrounding mental health and for the development of innovative forms of psychological support. In the longer term, the project seeks to contribute to shaping an academic environment that fosters well‑being, psychological resilience, and a sense of agency among its members.

The project is carried out at Jagiellonian University under the leadership of dr hab. Hubert Kaszyński, Professor at JU, with the support of a research team affiliated, among others, with the Behaviour in Crisis Lab. The project supervisor is Professor Małgorzata Kossowska, leader of the Behaviour in Crisis Lab.
