Join the Global Crises Project: An International Call for Collaborators
Behaviour in Crisis Lab at Jagiellonian University invites researchers from around the world to join the Global Crises Project, a large-scale international research initiative conducted in collaboration with the Centre for the Politics of Feelings at Royal Holloway, University of London, and affiliated with the Psychological Science Accelerator (PSA).
Researchers interested in participating are invited to submit an expression of interest by 31 October 2026.

Online methodological seminar Researchers in Times of Crises (Session 14, Series II): A tyranny of tenderness and a dictatorship of sensitivity? A methodological perspective

We warmly invite you to the final session of this year and the 14th meeting of the second series of the methodological seminar Researchers in Times of Crises. On 12 May, Dr hab. Małgorzata Michel, Professor at Jagiellonian University, will meet with invited speakers - Dagmara Tarasiuk, Hanna Kroczak, Aneta Ostaszewska, and Justyna Ratkowska‑Pasikowska - to discuss so‑called “tender methodologies” as a response to persistent challenges in the social sciences. The seminar series is held under the patronage of Behaviour in Crisis Lab.

From Solidarity to Social Tensions: Changing Attitudes Toward Ukrainian Refugees in Poland

In the first months following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Poland became a symbol of unprecedented solidarity. Millions of citizens spontaneously engaged in supporting refugees by offering accommodation, food, financial assistance, and emotional support. In the in‑depth report “The Polish‑Ukrainian Honeymoon Is Over,” published in The New Republic (April 2026), Marta Zaraska cites Professor Małgorzata Kossowska of the Behaviour in Crisis Lab, highlighting the shift from this extraordinary wave of solidarity at the onset of the war to a marked decline in public acceptance of refugees in subsequent years.

Crisis of Trust, Politicization, and Polarization: What Do Public Media Reforms Teach Us?

In the article After the Takeover: Rebuilding Trust in Public Media Through Institutional Reform, published in the prestigious journal Political Behavior, the authors examine one of the key challenges facing contemporary democracies: how to rebuild public trust in state institutions after a period of deep politicization and a crisis of legitimacy. The study focuses on the Polish context of public media reforms introduced following the change of government in 2023, implemented under conditions of strong political polarization and low levels of trust in public TV. One of the co-authors of the article is Dr Gabriela Czarnek from the Behaviour in Crisis Lab.
