DigiPatch Research Findings Presented at the International Political Science Association (IPSA) Conference

From 14 to 16 October 2026, the international conference “Resilience of Democracy in a Polarized World: Populism, Autocratization, and Global Challenges” was held in Wrocław, focusing on contemporary challenges to democracy, including political polarization, populism, and processes of autocratization. During the conference, Anna Siewierska, Associate Professor at the University of Rzeszów, presented findings from research conducted within the DigiPatch project – “Moving from Networked to Patchworked Society”.

15th Conference of the Committee on Migration Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Migrant Families from Belarus and Ukraine in Times of Polycrisis

From 23 to 25 September 2026, the 15th Conference of the Committee on Migration Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, “Emigration, Immigration, Integration in an Era of Social and Political Polarization”, was held in Gdańsk and Gdynia. With the support of the Jagiellonian University Excellence Initiative, as part of the flagship Behaviour in Crisis project led by Professor Małgorzata Kossowska, and the Centre for Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies at Jagiellonian University (CEAPP UJ), the paper “Migrant Families from Belarus and Ukraine in Times of Polycrisis: Disruptions of Life Trajectories” was presented at the conference.

How are our beliefs formed? Why, when faced with uncertainty, do some people remain open to new ideas, while others seek security in rigid patterns of thinking? How can we foster a sense of community and create space for solidarity? These were among the questions addressed by Professor Małgorzata Kossowska from the Behaviour in Crisis Lab at the Institute of Psychology, Jagiellonian University, who opened the Society and Science SPIN 2026 Conference with a keynote lecture.

Conference “The Economic Value of Informal Care: From Europe to Poland”

On 16–17 September 2026, the international conference “The Economic Value of Informal Care: From Europe to Poland” was held at Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Novum and Institute of Psychology. The event was organised by Eurocarers – the European Association Working for Carers, in cooperation with Jagiellonian University, including the Centre for Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies (CEAPP UJ), a partner of the Polish AFCC network, the Institute of Sociology, and the Behaviour in Crisis Lab. The conference provided a space for discussion and exchange of experiences among informal carers, representatives of non-governmental organisations, academic researchers, and policymakers involved in shaping public policy.

Society and Science SPIN 2026 Conference: “Science for Everyone?”

The nationwide Society and Science SPIN 2026 Conference will take place on 6–8 October 2026 at the Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon in Kraków. Organised jointly by the SPIN Society and Science Association and the Małopolska Centre of Science Cogiteon, this year's edition is held under the theme “Science for Everyone?”.
