Dr Zafer Özkan pracuje w Behaviour in Crisis Lab w Instytucie Psychologii Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego jako badacz po doktoracie. Stopień doktora z zakresu psychologii społecznej uzyskał na University of Kent w 2019 roku, po ukończeniu studiów magisterskich z psychologii społecznej i stosowanej w 2015 roku.
Jest autorem i współautorem publikacji w czołowych czasopismach, w tym Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, British Journal of Social Psychology, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Group Processes & Intergroup Relations, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin oraz International Journal of Intercultural Relations.
Jego badania koncentrują się na relacjach międzygrupowych, imigracji, zdrowiu psychicznym oraz uczestnictwie w protestach. Obecnie prowadzi i współpracuje przy kilku projektach wykorzystujących zaawansowane metody longitudinalne.
