Dr Anna Potoczek - a psychologist, Russian philologist, and researcher affiliated with the Behaviour in Crisis Lab and the Centre for Social Cognitive Studies. In her research, she focuses on refugee-related issues, susceptibility to social norms, responses to crises, and political psychology.

Her research interests include, in particular, the role of social norms in shaping individual and group behaviour, mechanisms related to the sense of control and its loss, as well as determinants of collective action and intergroup relations. In her work, she examines how threats and crisis situations influence social decision-making, political attitudes, and cognitive processes related to uncertainty.

Dr Potoczek has been involved in research projects addressing, among others, the impact of inclusivity norms on counteracting social polarization, the effectiveness of collective action, and the role of perceived control in shaping social and political attitudes. Her work has been published in leading journals in social psychology and political psychology.

She serves on the Board of the Polish Social Psychology Association. She is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Best Dissertation Award from the International Society of Political Psychology, the Prime Minister’s Award for the best doctoral dissertation in Poland, and the START scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science for outstanding young researchers.

Her interests also include the development of good research practices within Open Science as well as the popularisation of scientific knowledge.
